Games, OKRs and The Pistol

For most teams, quarterly OKR meetings are either the best of times, or the worst of times. Anxieties are often running pretty high, and team unity and cohesion can be put to the test. It’s also a time when everyone is most deserving of a fun reward, not to mention an opportunity to blow off some steam!

The brief

Australian ad-tech startup The Pistol asked Loumee to deliver an engaging and fun team-based experience for their employees that could psych up their team after their quarterly OKR meeting.

The program

Given the above, we selected The Trip, one of Loumee’s most popular team games. It’s great for diverse teams, and one we knew would be fun to play.

The group was divided into 9 teams and, after a short ice breaker, given their game briefing. They then had up to 40 minutes to try and solve the game, in a competition for both time and accuracy.

Afterwards, we wanted to help the players concretise some of their learnings from the experience. Players were asked a series of questions (anonymously of course) using our custom-built reflection tool- they reflected on their own contribution to the group effort, and aspects of their team’s social dynamics and interactions while solving problems.

Outcome

After the session, Jaime Nosworthy, CEO at The Pistol (who gets props for participating in the game alongside her team) reviewed the data collected through the reflection tool.

She was grateful to receive insight regarding her team member’s performance and most importantly, how they rated their workplace psychological safety.

“Thank you so much, the anonymised survey data was fantastic for me to see and the feedback on the session from the team has been really positive!”.

Not a bad way to round out some OKRs!
